Meet Big John

John Delavan is a former Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Special Forces, and is currently a member of the Special Forces and Special Operations Associations.  He was both team medic and light & heavy weapons leader on his A-Team, ODA-335.

He was also a peace officer, both military (prior to Special Forces) and civilian, working patrol, investigations and SWAT.  Grand Master John Delavan is also a highly regarded Master Instructor of both Taekwondo and Hapkido and is an International Referee, qualified to referee in International tournaments such as the World, the Pan Am and the Olympic Games.

 

John's father, Charles H. Delavan, was a Boy Scout Troop Master before John was born and began John's life long fascination and eventual mastery of outdoor survival skills very early in life.  This training began prior to and followed through the Cub, Boy and Explorer Scouts, self training in the wilderness skills of the early Mountain Men and Buckskinners, The Green Berets and more.

His hobbies include hand forging custom knives and doing oldtime hand-stitched leather work.
